Reopening Jenks Library

Changes to Library Services

We ask that all materials be returned through the book drop located by the front steps of Jenks Library, to the right as you approach the building. Oversize materials can be returned to the cart in the lobby.

After materials are returned they will be quarantined for 72 hours before being processed and reshelved by staff.

Materials Checkout

A contactless checkout station has been set up at the Circulation Desk. To check out, simply scan your ID card and the barcode on each item. A Circulation Desk attendant will assist you from behind a barrier.

Course Reserves

Course Reserves are now digital only, replacing the short-term loan materials with e-books, online journals, and other electronic items. Students no longer need to check these out at the Circulation Desk, but can instead use the links provided on their course's Canvas site.

Interlibrary Loan

Both NOBLE and Interlibrary Loan are available. Any physical materials delivered to Jenks Library will be quarantined for 72 hours before being processed.

Study Areas

Study space in the library has been rearranged to meet current health and safety guidelines. We have spaced seats further apart to allow for a safe distance from others while you are seated in the library. Please do not move the furniture. Some group seating remains available and we ask that physical distancing is maintained. Group study rooms may be used by 2 people only.

Shared Computers

The library will continue to offer several computers for use in the Reference Room. As these will be shared spaces we ask that you wash your hands before and after using. Library staff will disinfect them throughout the day.

Searching the Library Catalog

There are several ways to search the catalog for library materials. You may search through a browser using your mobile phone, personal or shared Reference Room computer, or using the NOBLE Libraries mobile app. You may also ask for assistance at the Circulation Desk.

In-house Materials

Some materials do not circulate by traditional checkout, but rather by in-house use only. We have put guidelines in place to support the health and safety of patrons.

Browsing for Books

Patrons will be able to browse the library for books. We ask that any books taken off the shelves be placed on the nearest reshelving cart to be collected by staff and quarantined for 72 hours.

Reference Books

Materials from the Reference Room are not sanitized between uses. We ask that patrons wash their hands before and after using.

All newspapers and magazines will now be shelved in the 4th floor Periodicals area. As these materials are often handled throughout the day, patrons must understand that they are using these at their own risk. We ask that hands are washed with soap and water before and after each use.

Bistro 255 & Eating in the Library

Bistro 255 will be open for takeout service only. Please enter through the doors in the Reference Room and exit through the back hall.

We understand that eating in the library is common and often necessary, so we simply ask that you are seated while eating to maintain social distancing and that you put your mask back on immediately when not eating or drinkingPlease be respectful to those around you.
