Current issues of the Boston Globe are available in the 4th floor newspaper section of Jenks Library. Issues from 1997 to the present can also be viewed online. Older issues dating back as far as 1872 may be viewed using the Boston Globe Archives. Contact the circulation desk or email library@gordon.edu for access to the online archives.

Getting Started

POPULAR SOURCE MAGAZINES
Articles published in popular source magazines such as The Economist, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, The Nation, or Time Magazine are great places to start your research. These articles are written for a general audience and will include reference to many primary sources that you can then track down.

Use these as starting places for your research to become familiar with current events in political development.

Devoted to special area studies or special topics of interest to America. Invaluable tool for reference & research, which updates expensive & outdated hardcover reference works.

The Economist
A weekly newsmagazine of world politics and current affairs, business, finance and science published in London, England.
Foreign Affairs
Reviews current events as they affect US relations worldwide, focusing on international, political, commercial and cultural relations.
Print available for 5 current years
Foreign Policy
Presents articles dealing with the United States' attitude toward world affairs and current events.
Print available for 5 current years
The Nation
A journal of politics, economics, education, foreign policy, labor, law and other social issues, literature and the arts.

National and international news, behavior, books, business, cinema, law, education, environment, modern living, music, nation, press, religion, theater, video and world.

TAKING IT FURTHER
As you look through articles in popular magazines or newspapers pay attention to references to where the authors got their information. Do they mention reports or research studies? Data from countries? Or information from government sources? Go find these sources! It is your job as the research to track the original sources through our library resources such as databases or journals.
